FTP instalation and configuration

WS FTP LE for Windows

Note: WS_FTP is not shareware. The downloaded Limited Edition version, WS_FTP LE is available free of charge to non-commerical home users. All others must buy WS_FTP Pro, the advanced commercial version. You can purchase (using a major credit cards) via ipswitch e-commerce web site and have WS-FTP Pro on your desktop in minutes. 1. Install the program by executing downloaded file. Follow the prompts.

2. Connect to the internet. If you use a telephone modem, start your brower or email program will do the trick. If you have a cable modem or if your computer connects to the internet via a router, you don't have to do this, you're connected anyway.

3. Start WS FTP program

4. A Window Session Properties will come up. Fill it in as follows

  • Profile Name: can be anything you desire to identify the connection you are creating
  • Host name/Address: ftp.lynos.com.au
  • Host Type: Automatic detect
  • User id: as supplied by us. Do not select Anonymous box
  • Password: as supplied by us. Select Save Pwd so next time you do not have to type it.
  • Account: leave this blank
  • Comments: enter any comments you want to include with this session profile

5. Click Apply to store setting. Next time just choose Profile Name you saved and click OK to connect to Lyno’s server.

6. You should see a folder in the Remote System window with the same name as your user id. You can drag things in or out of the folder. It's your folder on our inhouse server.

Next time restart WS FTP by clicking on Connect with correct Profile name selected.

Now try selecting a job in you folder (left window) and then press arrow between windows pointing to the right hand side window (your location on our server). Check your files are still OK. Try it with documents, images and fonts. make sure they all come back with the right names. If you have any problems, give us a call or email our tech support.
