E-Print design guide

You can submit your design in either the original document format or as a Postscript, PDF or EPS file. For preparing PDF and Postscript files, call or email for further information. All leading desktop publishing packages are supported.

Paper sizes

The paper size used in the E-Print is always 450x320mm. The maximum image size is 437x308mm including all crop and rego marks.

Images

Save them as EPS or TIFF images. Do not use DCS or preseparated formats. Do not save images with transfer functions or screen angles. Image resolution should be 200-300dpi. Line art (bitmap) scans should be saved at 800dpi for best results.

RGB–CMYK conversions

All images should be in CMYK format. When converting RGB to CMYK on the desktop set as follows: 70% black ink limit, UCR on, 300% total ink limit.

Duotones

Convert to CMYK for the most predictable result.

Highlight dot

Optimal on E-Print is 6% cyan, 5% magenta, 5% yellow.

Layout

Unless you have consulted us first, design jobs as single pages, not spreads on a single page. We will impose the job for the E-Print.

Duplex printing

Like most small printing presses, the E-Print has slight front to back variation in registration and small variations in page to page image positioning.. The design should be tolerant of this.
